FAQ
How is the Jordanian Tawjihi equivalency calculated?
Each IGCSE/A-Level grade is given a numerical value and your equivalency is the average across 8 subjects (typically 6 O-Level/IGCSE + 2 A-Levels, including Arabic for Arab students). This tool uses commonly-cited approximate values; always confirm the current official values with the Ministry of Higher Education.
What score do I need for medicine or engineering in Jordan?
Competitive majors generally need a high equivalency — often around 85% or above, and higher in practice for medicine. Equivalency students also compete under a limited quota for public universities, so aim as high as you can.
Is this equivalency calculator official?
No. It is an estimate based on commonly-cited grade values to help you plan. Official equivalency is issued by Jordan's Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, and values can change year to year.
How many subjects do I need for equivalency?
Typically 6 IGCSE/O-Level subjects plus 2 A-Levels (8 total), with Arabic required as one of them for Arab students. Accepted grades are A–D at O-Level and A–E at A-Level.
