FAQ

How is an IGCSE grade average calculated?
Each grade is converted to points (A*=8, A=7, B=6, C=5, D=4, E=3, F=2, G=1), the points are totalled and divided by the number of subjects to give an average, which maps back to a letter grade.
What counts as a pass in IGCSE?
A grade C (or 4 on the 9–1 scale) is generally treated as a standard pass, though some universities and courses require higher. Cambridge grades A*–G are all certificated results.
How do IGCSE points work for university?
Different universities and equivalency systems use different point scales. This tool uses the common A*=8 … G=1 scale to give you a quick average; always check your target institution's exact requirements.
Does this work for Edexcel 9–1 grades?
This calculator uses the Cambridge A*–G scale. If you're on Edexcel 9–1, a 9 is roughly a high A*, 7 ≈ A, 6 ≈ B, 4–5 ≈ C — convert first, then enter the equivalent letter.
