A-Level and AS results land a full week before the IGCSE wave — and for many students they carry more weight: university offers, equivalency calculations and gap decisions all hang on them. If you sat Cambridge International AS/A Levels or Edexcel IAL in the June 2026 series, here are your exact dates, how the results reach you, and the decision plan for every outcome.

⚡ The 60-second version
  • Cambridge International AS & A Level: results released Tuesday 11 August 2026.
  • Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL): results day Thursday 13 August 2026.
  • Results come through your school or exam centre — they set the exact release time.
  • Unhappy? Remarks (enquiries about results) close ~20 September; the next retake windows are October/November 2026 (Cambridge and IAL) and January 2027 (IAL).
  • For Jordanian students, AS/A2 grades are 2 of the 8 subjects in your Tawjihi equivalency — and they're where averages are won or lost.

The dates

Retake entries close
Cambridge 21 Sep; Edexcel IAL Oct-series entries ~late Aug
IAL retakers, note the early deadline: Edexcel IAL's October 2026 series entries close around late August — barely two weeks after results day. If an A-Level resit is even a possibility, ask your centre about cutoffs the day results arrive, not in September.

Your decision tree

  1. Met your conditions
Confirm your university place or next step, keep the statement of results safe, done. If you're applying via Jordan's system, start the equivalency paperwork early — it takes time.
  2. Missed by 1–2 marks
Ask your exams officer for your distance from the boundary and consider an enquiry about results — same rules as IGCSE: it can move grades both ways, and the deadline is ~20 September.
  3. Missed by more
Retake the subject: Cambridge in October/November (entries close 21 September), Edexcel IAL in October (entries ~late August) or January 2027. AS students can often bank the AS and push the A2 attempt.
  4. Offer at risk
Contact the university before assuming rejection — many hold or adjust offers for near-misses, especially with a retake booked. Silence is the only guaranteed no.

The Jordan angle: A Levels are your equivalency's leverage

In the standard Jordanian university package (6 IGCSE + 2 A-Level), the two A-Level grades sit in an 8-subject average — so a C at A-Level does the same damage as a C at IGCSE, but is much harder to shrug off because faculties also look at which A-Levels you sat. Medicine wants Biology and Chemistry strong; engineering wants Maths and Physics. If an A-Level grade undercuts your target faculty's bar, the October/November retake — with results on 7 January 2027 — usually still fits the admission cycle. Confirm your university's timing before deciding to wait for June.

FAQ

When is A-Level results day 2026?
For the June 2026 international series: Cambridge International AS & A Level results are released on Tuesday 11 August 2026, and Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) results on Thursday 13 August 2026. Your school or exam centre sets the exact time you receive them.
Can I retake my A Levels in 2026?
Yes — Cambridge runs an October/November 2026 series (retake entries close 21 September) and Edexcel IAL offers October 2026 (entries close around late August) and January 2027 sittings. Cambridge November results arrive 7 January 2027. You retake individual subjects; other grades are untouched.
Can my A-Level grade be remarked?
Yes — through your exam centre, via Cambridge's Enquiries About Results or Edexcel's Review of Marking, with the Cambridge June-series deadline around 20 September 2026. As with IGCSE, grades can go down as well as up, so check your marks distance first.
What if I only sat AS Levels?
AS results follow the same dates. You can carry the AS forward to complete the full A Level, retake AS papers in a later series, or — in the Jordanian equivalency — use qualifying AS results within your 8-subject package, subject to the Ministry's current rules.

A-Level results day rewards the same preparation IGCSE does: know your dates, know your marks distance, and know your retake deadlines before you need them. And if a retake is the route — real past papers with instant marking work exactly the same magic at A Level: practise above the boundary until the exam is a formality.
